Born on this day, Alan Rees, a founding member of March Engineering, his initials "A.R." being the "AR" in "March", who became team boss of Shadow Racing Cars, and later co-founded Arrows. A lesser known fact is that he had a shot as a driver in three Grands Prix, too, driving twice in a Winkelmann F2 car and once in a rather tired works Cooper at the 1967 British Grand Prix.
