Bobby Isaac dominated, leading 271 of 300 laps to win the Beltsville 300, the final race for NASCAR’s top series on Beltsville (Maryland, US) Speedway’s half-mile asphalt track. Pole-starter James Hylton finished second, one lap down, with third-place Bobby Allison another lap back. The track, which hosted 10 NASCAR races in its lifespan, closed in 1978 and is now the site of a community college.
