Michael Schumacher won the Grand Prix at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil. In his Bennetton, he set fastest lap on his way to victory in 1:38:34. David Coulthard in a Williams, finished second, 8 seconds behind and Gerhard Berger in his Ferrari, was third 1 lap down. Damon Hill sat on pole but was out with suspension failure 30 laps in.
