The Fairgrounds Speedway an independent racetrack located at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds near downtown Nashville, Tennessee, US first staged "horseless carriages" and motorcycle races on the 1.125 mile (1.8 km) dirt oval. Races were cancelled after a motorcycle ran into the back of a car that was lining up. The second oldest continually operating track in the United States, it staged NASCAR Grand National/Winston Cup (now Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series) races from 1958 to 1984.
